A & J Scott Ltd is a family owned, leading independent home-grown sawmill based at Wooperton, between Alnwick and Wooler. Alongside continued investment in state-of-the-art machinery and equipment as a rural company we take sustainability seriously. Who we are looking for
We are looking for Production Operators and Labourers to support our dedicated Mill 9 Team on back shift. You will provide general labouring duties and learn to operate various machinery in our state-of-the-art plant which includes first line operator maintenance.
Although previous machine operating experience would be an advantage, full training will be provided by our skilled operators.
What matters to us most is that you are reliable, have a positive attitude to work, and you ensure that everything you produce is of the quality expected by our customers.
You will take pride in your work and pay great attention to detail.
You will observe safety and security standards and work to quality standards. You will also be motivated to achieve daily targets.
You will be flexible and willing to learn and train in other departments as and when demand dictates.
Depending on which machine you are working on, this may include some physical work.
Shifts
The company operates shift patterns which differ depending on which location you will be working within the site. Our working pattern for Mill 9 comprises of Two shifts (early shift and a back shift) The shifts are fixed and currently our available vacancies are for our back shift.
Back Shift Hours: 2pm – 12:50am Monday – Thursday
Pay rates: £11.44-£13.00 per hour
Overtime rate: Time and quarter (not guaranteed but may be available subject to customer demand)
