In April 2024, we were proud to secure a three-year contract with Forestry England at Kidland Forest, supporting the ongoing recovery efforts following the devastation caused by Storm Arwen. This landmark contract is part of a major initiative to clear and restore vast areas of windblown timber, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the forest.
Recently, we revisited the site to assess progress, and the results have been remarkable. Working alongside Blacklock Harvesting, who are using specialist equipment designed for steep and challenging terrain, the operation is moving forward efficiently and safely. Their expertise in handling difficult conditions ensures that valuable timber is recovered while minimising environmental impact.
The damage left behind by Storm Arwen was extensive, with thousands of trees uprooted across Northumberland. Our work at Kidland Forest is not only about clearing windblown timber but also about supporting forest regeneration and ensuring a healthy woodland for future generations.
